Late beloved comedian Cal Wilson will be honoured in the new season of The Great Australian Bake Off which airs next month. The 53-year-old, who hosts the baking show alongside fellow comedian Natalie Tran, died on October 11 after she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer. The eagerly awaited 10-part series will premiere on FOXTEL and BINGE on September 18 with episodes served up weekly at the same time on both platforms.

This season, 12 new bakers will be donning their aprons and taking their place in the iconic Bake Off shed under the eyes of esteemed judges, global culinary icon Rachel Khoo and Australia’s king of pastry Darren Purchese. The “dearly missed” Wilson will appear in four episodes. FOXTEL entertainment content and channels executive director Wendy Moore said season seven of the series will hold a special place in Australians’ hearts.

“Cal’s passing was a devastating shock to the Bake Off family, and she is dearly missed by everyone who knew her. Her deep love for this show and her unique blend of charisma and kindness brightened the shed every day,” she said. BBC Studios Productions general manager and creative director Kylie Washington said: “Cal loved being part of the Bake Off family and everyone on the series loved Cal.

” “She brought a beautiful energy to the show and we miss her enormously, and I’m pleased that audiences will get another chance to see the magic that she brought to the Bake Off shed.” Tran also off.
