All of us love going to the but hate fighting tooth and nail with summer crowds to nab a decent space for our towels and parasols. Thankfully, if there’s one thing can boast, it's a metric tonne of beaches to pick from. Thanks to our lovely long coastline which wraps around the county, you can be sure that for every heaving beach during the summer, there’s at least one other quieter gem with plenty of room.

One such unsung summertime hero is Littlestone beach found in, you guessed it, Littlestone-on-Sea. A quaint coastal village located in the heart of scenic , this spot may be quite a trek to reach for some - but boy is it worth it. Featuring sand and shingle, Littlestone offers the best of both worlds when it comes to British beaches and is an undeniably gorgeous spot to enjoy a day by the sea.

During high tide, the beach is largely dominated by the pebbles, so it's an ideal place for some stone skimming or just a leisurely wander along the coast. When the tide does pull back however, a wide expanse of sand is revealed, stretching around half a mile in all - perfect for digging, building castles or just lounging on while you catch a tan. Despite the golden sands and striking scenery, it's near enough guaranteed that, no matter when you visit, Littlestone will be much quieter than its counterparts over in Dymchurch and St Mary’s Bay.

This more relaxed atmosphere has helped the beach grow an impressive reputation, holding a rating of four stars out of five and being vot.
