The UK has an island that resembles a tropical paradise similar to the Caribbean. The Isles of Scilly are home to around 2,100 people and is a place where the average home is flogged for £548,000. It is a gorgeous place, and better yet it’s far cheaper to get to and visit compared to idyllic counterparts such as Jamaica and Morocco.

It’s a peaceful and tranquil place, where you can visit shipwrecks, explore nature, and dine in dinky cafes. The landscape is one of its main attractions, with the Isles of Scilly considered an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) since 1975. Away from the island, seal snorkelling is one of the greatest things to do there.

There are experiences running twice a day which include wetsuit hire, snorkel and mask hire, a boat trip, and an hour of snorkelling with the seals followed by a warm drink and a snack once you’re done. It costs £65 per person, but in a group of four or more, it goes down to £60.

Lighthouses are another thing you can visit - and we’re sure you can imagine by now that everything there revolves around the surrounding water. There are six around Scilly with the first built in 1680, and the last in 1911. Most were built by three generations of the Douglass family in the 19th Century, who live on-site.
