The Cure will release new single ‘Alone’ later this week. The band have been working on a proposed album for around a decade now, with singer Robert Smith giving ad hoc updates during interviews. It seems that 2024 is the year everything gets real – The Cure recently released a special eco-friendly live disc , and began teasing plans for a new album with a single poster outside their old local, the Railway in Crawley .

If all goes to plan, The Cure’s new album is called ‘Songs Of A Lost World’ and it will be released on November 1st. Their first since 2008, the goth legends have now laid out plans for the lead single from the incoming album. New single ‘Alone’ will be released on September 26th, a momentous moment for fans.

Fans can pre-save the single now , while the artwork is up top. Want to hear it first? ‘ALONE ‘ will debut on Mary Anne Hobbs’s BBC Radio 6Music show on 26th September between 10.30am and 1pm.

Further details about the album will also be revealed that day. Fans who signed up to the band’s site and joined their Whatsapp community were sent a mysterious message last week (September 20th) which read: “Want to hear ‘Alone’?”. It was sent with the option to click ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.

Those who clicked ‘yes’ were given a short – 12 second – snippet of ‘Alone’, with Robert Smith’s vocal opining: “This is the end of every song we sing...
