The presenter faced charges including common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possession of prohibited drugs, and breaching an apprehended violence order. The incident leading to Andrew's arrest occurred in a Sydney apartment, with the alleged assault taking place just days earlier in September 2021.

Although he has been sentenced and is currently appealing his convictions, Nine News has now broadcast the police bodycam footage capturing the moment of his arrest. In the footage, Andrew can be heard exclaiming, "This is what happens when I don't have my medication," and while being handcuffed, he protests, "This is a simple request. Why are you being f---ing Nazis about it? Why would I calm down when you're doing this to me?" The arresting officers respond to Andrew's outburst by suggesting that his "attitude is not making things any better," to which he retorts, "Attitude? F--k you man, this is not attitude.
