However, fans were taken aback when they discovered footage of Anne Hegerty, one of the show's general knowledge gurus, participating as a contestant rather than a quiz master. The 66 year old, also known as the Governess, was seen on BBC's Mastermind back in 1987 when she was just 30 years old.

She looked strikingly different, sporting a curly bob hairstyle and glasses, and donning an oversized multicoloured dress, reports The Express . Her specialist topic was 'The Life and Works of Lorenz Hart', the renowned lyricist. At that time, Anne was working as a journalist and her retro look has recently been shared on Reddit, leaving fans astounded.

Many commented that they believe she looks better now, with the 80s fashion not flattering her. One user wrote: "She looks twice as old as she does now." Another added: "As others are saying she looks better now the fashion didn't seem to be very good back then haha.
