The Challenge Season 40 is already being slammed for its “unfair” format - with some fans threatening to “quit watching.” In the second installment of the hit MTV show, the conclusion of the Era Invitational saw the cast of 40 be whittled down to 32, with fan favorites such as Amanda Garcia and Leroy Garrett leaving Vietnam. The fast-paced episode saw the Challengers battle it out against their own Era to avoid going home .
However, fans were left complaining that the levels of difficulty between the elimination challenges - which were allocated to Eras at random - were incomparable. The strenuous classic challenges Balls In and Pole Wrestle saw contestants be put to the test physically, Hall Brawl and Take Shelter saw competitors tested more in terms of strategy and stamina. Furthermore, fans on social media and contestants alike were left fuming that Challengers were made to compete against their own Era - with Mark Long (who was eliminated after losing against his long-time friend Derrick Kosinski in Pole Wrestle) calling it “the cr*ppiest twist ever.
” Speaking to Entertainment Weekly about what he and his fellow Challengers thought when they found out he would be competing against his fellow Era 1 stars, “The Godfather” said: “We all thought that was the cr*ppiest twist ever. Because we've seen that, right? How awesome would it have been if I'm going against Horacio or something, like the old lion versus the new young lion?” Viewers were also unhappy w.
