Where to find New Zealand’s best experiences for those who live life from one thrill to the next, by adventurist and author Sequoia Schmidt Through my years of world travel, there is no place I have found for an epic adventure quite like that of Aotearoa. From the black sand beaches of Piha to the cascading peaks of the Southern Alps, New Zealand’s landscape offers abundant opportunity to leave one’s comfort zone and explore the beauty Mother Nature has to offer. Sometimes we don’t have to look too far for our greatest adventures.

Otumuheke Stream, Taupō Many of my childhood memories are stored in weekend trips to Taupō. Running freely down the grassy hill that leads from the parking lot to the thermal pools of the Otumuheke Stream. Although the hot springs were far more rustic when I was a child, the infrastructure put in now allows for a family-safe outing.

Let the hot water run over your back standing under a small thermal waterfall, and to finish off, there’s nothing quite like the adventure of a cold dip in the river..
