A short distance away from Calverton you will find the peaceful village of Oxton. Nestled in the countryside, the area is full of beautiful views and is popular with people of all ages. Although this is a popular place to live in or visit, Oxton doesn't have any shops.

There is, however, a great choice of pubs, a popular cricket club, village hall and church and it's a short drive away from a farm where you can pick your own pumpkins and sunflowers depending on the time of year. At one end of the village you will find Ye Olde Bridge Inn, close to the B63865 and the Oxton Bypass, an award-winning country pub. The gastro pub combines culinary creativity with timeless classics and is well known in the area for its tasty menu, cocktails and friendly staff.

The pub has a community focus, also hosting yoga classes and sometimes even an outdoor cinema. At the other end of the village on Blind Lane, there is The Old Green Dragon, a venue which holds the honour of being CAMRA's ‘Nottingham Village Pub of the Year 2018-2022 and 'Cider Pub of The Year 2020’. This pub is the place to be when a sports match is on, with multiple screens playing throughout the venue.

Sometimes there is live music too. The Old Green Dragon is also well known for its beer options, with plenty of unique varieties being stocked. Thanks to these two award-winning pubs, plus the picturesque surroundings, Oxton is a very sought-after place to live, even without having a shop.
