It looks like The Acolyte, the latest live-action Star Wars series on Disney+, will not be getting a second season. That news comes via a report today on Deadline , whose sources tell the outlet that Disney has elected to not proceed with Season 2. Disney has not yet made an official announcement on whether or not The Acolyte would continue, and IGN has reached out to Disney for comment.

According to the Deadline report, while The Acolyte's viewership started strong, garnering 11.1 million views in its first five days of streaming , its momentum waned, dropping out of Nielsen's weekly Top 10 chart in week 3. It would return to the Top 10 at #10, however, for the season finale.

The Acolyte wrapped up its eight-episode run on Disney+ in July, with a finale that clearly left the door open for another season . Showrunner Leslye Headland had commented on the possibility of future seasons in the past, telling Entertainment Weekly that she has "four or five major mysteries" that she would've liked to address in a potential Season 2.
