The highly anticipated theme for fashion’s biggest night has been revealed for 2025, sending shockwaves across the internet. The prestigious event, globally recognised as fashion’s most glamorous night, will be held on Monday, May 5, 2025, at New York City’s iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art, better known as The Met. Around 450 guests, including stars, rising creatives, and fashion powerhouses, will attend, offering designers the ultimate platform to showcase their boldest ideas.

As always, the gala raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute, and the theme coincides with the opening of its annual exhibition. This year, the theme has stirred up strong emotions. The spring 2025 exhibition, titled "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style", was announced by The Met in partnership with Vogue on October 9.

"Drawing inspiration from Monica L. Miller’s 2009 book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the exhibit will feature garments, paintings, photographs, and more-all exploring the indelible style of Black men in the context of dandyism, from the 18th century through present day," Vogue said. “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style will take the Black dandy as its subject, examining the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.

" Miller herself will serve as a guest curator, alongside Costume Institute curator Andrew Bolton. The Met Gala’s co-hosts this year include Vogue editor-in-chie.
