Every weekend it seems its time for another wild Marvel or DC rumor to hit, and the one this weekend is a doozy. Scooper (via ) has reportedly confirmed that Josh Brolin is in talks to reprise his role as the Mad Titan Thanos for the upcoming “Avengers” film – presumably ‘Secret Wars’ rather than Doomsday. How big a part Thanos could have isn’t clear, but speculation is already flying he could be involved in the creation of Battleworld and potentially replace the main antagonist from the ‘Secret Wars’ comics – The Beyonder.
Despite Thanos being wiped from existence in “Avengers: Endgame,” nothing ever seems truly dead in the MCU – especially in the multiverse saga with plenty of character variants available. “Avengers: Secret Wars” is expected to feature a new roster of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, surviving members of the original team, and some potential variants from prior Marvel movies. Filming on “Avengers: Doomsday” kicks off in March ahead of a May 1st 2026 release, “Avengers: Secret Wars” hasn’t set a filming window as yet but has already locked in a May 7th 2027 date.
Both films will be directed by the Russo brothers..
