Las Vegas police have released photos of the exploded Cybertruck outside Trump Tower - showing gasoline canisters, camp fuel canisters, and large firework mortars in the back. One person died, and seven others were injured Wednesday when the Tesla vehicle caught fire and exploded outside President-elect Donald Trump 's Las Vegas hotel. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and Clark County Fire Department officials told a news conference that a person died inside the futuristic-looking pickup truck.
At a press conference on Wednesday evening, Sheriff Kevin McMahill showed a video of firefighters taking off a black tarp that had been used to stop the fire burning. "The fact this was a Cybertruck really limited the damage," McMahill said. "It made most of the damage go up rather than out.
" He also explained that the blast did not break the front glass doors at the Trump Hotel and that the exterior of the vehicle remained in shape. McMahill stated that seven people nearby had minor injuries and several were taken to a hospital. The sheriff said the driver's remains are still in the truck and the police know the name of the person who rented it, but they would not be revealing that at this stage.
He also personally thanked Tesla CEO Elon Musk , saying: "He gave us a lot of information on how the vehicle was locked. And being able to capture all the video from the Tesla charging stations across the country." The fire in the valet area of the Trump International Hotel Las Vegas was reporte.
