Retrieval, an anticipated cinematic horror game being developed by industry veterans, just premiered a brand-new trailer at the Future Games Show at Gamescom Presented by Sid Meier’s Civilization® VII, revealing its release windows and platforms. The astonishingly pretty trailer was capture fully in-engine, thanks in no small part to NVIDIA 's new ReSTIR technology and Unreal Engine 5. You'll step into the shoes of Hana Loshe, commander of a research team based on a distant planet.

The world itself seems to have been torn apart, feeding into Retrieval's gripping story. The trailer itself sees Hana struggling through subway tunnels - though her method of transport offering what seems to be a particularly bumpy ride, and Hana is badly injured in the resulting crash. From there, we get a sizzle reel of the many other threats that Retrieval is set to surround us with.

There are a few new friends, but many more foes, and it seems that Hana isn't safe anywhere. With direct help from NVIDIA and PlayStation, as well as developers who have leant their expertise to the likes of Naughty Dog , Retrieval looks set to become a new horror classic. You'll have to wait a little while for it, as it's currently expected to release in 2026, but for now it's available to wishlist on Steam, with pages for its PS5 and Xbox Series X|S release expected soon.
