Phillip Schofield faces a vicious storm and "disaster" just hours into his new TV series. A new clip from Phillip Schofield Cast Away shows the former This Morning host left alone with only a handful of cameras to document his own experience on a tropical island off the coast of Madagascar. In the first episode to be shown on Channel 5 next week, Phillip settles in for the night in his camp after his first day in Madagascar.
After a hard day’s work setting up camp, building a fire and hunting for food, a comfortable night’s sleep is much needed, but the weather has other ideas. Phillip says: "I want to catch a fish that makes me feel full. I am literally going to sleep as I’m holding this.
Anyway, there we go and um I’ll see you tomorrow." But hours later he is woken by a huge storm which threatens to cut the TV show short. With winds blowing his camp set up into the air Phillip adds: "Bloody hell.
Disaster has struck, howling wind blowing through everything, it's taken out all the front. This is about to tear itself to pieces and there’s still every possibility that it will. I wasn’t expecting that.
" The documentary series is billed by Channel 5 as an "authentic and intense physical and mental challenge". Phillip is left alone with only a handful of cameras to document his own experience. While he was alone on the island, the production team were stationed 30 minutes offshore, only to intervene in the event of an extreme emergency.
