Telangana High Court has issued notices to the Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) and Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) on the petition of the Telangana Cricket Association (TCS), which sought a CBI investigation in a time-bound manner on the irregularities carried out by the HCA for the past 12 years. TCA secretary D. Guruva Reddy said the High Court bench led by Justice C.
V. Bhaskar Reddy issued notices to BCCI and HCA and posted the matter to November 28 to hear the responses of BCCI and HCA. The TCA sought direction from the High Court to probe the pay-and-play culture of different cricket clubs under HCA as it has been depriving talented youngsters of their opportunities.
The clubs, as per the Society Act, are not supposed to be personal property, but still, some members are acting as the owners of these properties for 30 to 40 years. As per Lodha Committee recommendations and the laws of the BCCI and HCA, a member should not continue for more than 9 years in the cricket clubs. But no one respects the rule.
The representation from the districts was also denied for more than four decades in HCA, the TCA pointed out in its petition. The TCA also urged the court to give a directive to the CBI to probe why HCA had failed to take action against the persons found guilty of financial irregularities in the forensic audit..
