A struggling fashion brand’s final stores in Sussex could disappear after it was announced its high street shops may close within weeks. Ted Baker could disappear from the high street with fears that the closures will include the brand’s Gatwick Airport stores. The fashion brand is understood to be to be considering closing all of its remaining stores within weeks after staff were told they will lose their jobs within weeks, as first reported in The Sun.
The business behind the fashion brand’s UK shops, No Ordinary Designer Label Limited (NODL), fell into administration in March. Ted Baker current has two stores in Gatwick Airport – one in the North and South terminals. It has since shut 15 shops in the UK, resulting in about 245 staff being made redundant.
Authentic Brands, the US-based firm behind Juicy Couture and Reebok, is still the owner of Ted Baker’s intellectual property. The brand previously had a store in Dukes Lane in Brighton , but this has since closed.
The collapse of the UK stores could mark the end of its position on high streets, after being founded in 1988 by Ray Kelvin and recognised for its patterned and floral clothing.
