Facebook Twitter WhatsApp SMS Email Print Copy article link Save It's never too early to begin learning about managing money, but making it fun and playful is the key. The Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants are partnering with Knock Knock Museum on Saturday, Oct.
5, and Sunday, Oct. 6, to host a Earn and Learn Financial Literacy Weekend. Children will enjoy valuable fun lessons and learn age-appropriate ways to manage money.
The Earn and Learn initiative uses creative, hands-on activities to introduce children to financial literacy. These activities include completing various jobs in the 18 Learning Zones to earn wooden tokens, which can be saved or spent in the Earn and Learn Shop. The Louisiana Certified Public Accountants volunteers will assist and guide the children through tasks such as working in different settings, donating food, exploring career pathways, money identification and financial decision-making.
The financial decision-making activity will include the differences between wants and needs, making thoughtful choices and giving to the community. With guidance from the volunteers, children will also gain a practical understanding of budgeting, numerical skills and prioritization. This Earn and Learn Financial Literacy Weekend will promote learning through play, emphasizing the value of gaining real-world life lessons in a creative way.
