DELAND, FL—Tara L. Lavigne, 50, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 17, 2023 in DeLand, FL with her sister, Bridgit Lavigne and best friend, Brian Shurr by her side. Born April 3, 1973 in Glens Falls, NY, Tara was the beloved eldest daughter of Kathleen (Carson) Lavigne and Kermit Lavigne.

Tara was a gifted student with a special interest in mathematics. She graduated from South Glens Falls High School and went on to attend SUNY Plattsburgh, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education and Mathematics and then a Master of Science in Curriculum Development and Instructional Strategies. Tara relocated and built a life in sunny Florida, calling the Orlando area her home for the past 20+ years, with her friend Brian and his partner, Kevin Anders.

Tara loved her family with all her heart and was the outspoken firstborn, both a teacher and a role model for her siblings from a young age. Tara always had the time to help a friend or a family member in need and offer guidance. Tara spent much of her career employed in Restaurant Management.

Cooking was her passion, and she enjoyed baking and decorating cakes in her leisure time as well. Tara is predeceased by her mom, Kathleen Lavigne; her brother, Travis Lavigne; her grandparents: Ruth (Rumney) Carson, George Carson, Jennie (Jordan) Lavigne and Kermit A. Lavigne; her aunts: Geraldine Kelly and Cherry Clark; and her uncle, George Carson.
