Cathy Hughes, who was in her 60s, will be laid to rest on Thursday following the tragic incident at Old Head Beach, near Louisburgh in Co Mayo, shortly after 4pm last Sunday. Ms Hughes who lived in the Galway town of Salthill after growing up in Westport will be reposing at home on Wednesday, July 24 from 5pm to 7.30pm.

Removal on Thursday will arrive at the Church of Christ the King, Salthill in advance of Requiem Mass at 2pm. Her death notice on RIP.ie reads: “Cathy (Cathriona Cecilia) Hughes, Boathaven, Dun Na Carraige, Salthill, Galway / Westport, Co Mayo, July 21, 2024.
