We are expecting a further 20 ships to visit over the summer.”Three cruise ships are scheduled to arrive in Gisborne over the next week, carrying nearly 1000 passengers between them.“Of particular interest, the Scenic Eclipse will be berthing on Wharf 7 on Sunday. It is 6-star-rated luxury cruise ship which will look spectacular in our harbour,” she said.“We’re excited to host the cruise ship art markets in the inner harbour this year and look forward to seeing the first pop-up happen next Thursday. They will be located next to the fishing club.”Sports clubs, school and Multicultural Society receive NZCT grantsTairawhiti-connected organisations received over $168,000 in the New Zealand Community Trust’s latest funding round.Gisborne Gymnastics Club was the biggest recipient, receiving $67,000 for salaries of the Gym For All and competitive coach, head coach, administrator and operations manager.Patutahi Golf Club was granted $30,000 for tractors and a mower.OBM Rugby and Associated Sports Gisborne received $20,000 for playing uniforms and equipment.Tairawhiti Multicultural Council also got $20,0000 to go towards event costs.Makauri School was granted $10,000 for a minivan.Other grants went to Tennis Eastern Inc ($5753 for uniforms, tournament director and administrator); SuperGrans Tairāwhiti Trust ($5000 for salary); Surfing For Farmers Charitable Trust ($5000 for surfing sessions in Bay of Plenty, Gisborne and Dunedin); the Scout Association of NZ ($3650 for salaries of Lower North Island, upper North Island and South Island territory general managers); Southern Hearing Charitable Trust ($1908 for salary of role working across the lower North Island).
