Friday, November 29, 2024 Airports of Thailand Plc (AOT) has announced the implementation of facial recognition technology at six major airports to enhance passenger convenience and streamline processing times for international flights. This cutting-edge biometrics-based system will go live starting December 1, marking a significant leap in the modernization of Thailand’s aviation infrastructure. The new technology will be rolled out at Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, and Hat Yai airports.
AOT’s initiative is designed to reduce the time spent at checkpoints, enabling registered passengers to clear procedures in just one minute, compared to the current average of three minutes. Streamlined Passenger Registration and Processing Passengers will be able to register for this system through two methods: by interacting with airline staff at traditional check-in counters or by utilizing common-use self-service (CUSS) kiosks. During the registration process, the system will scan passengers’ faces, linking their biometric data to their flight details.
Once registered, passengers can seamlessly proceed through various stages of their journey, including luggage check-in. The integration of Common Use Bag Drop (CUBD) machines is a key feature of this initiative. Registered passengers can check their luggage without presenting boarding passes or passports, expediting the check-in process and eliminating redundant steps.
This innovation reflects AOT’s commi.
