A SUSPECT has been arrested over the death of a man in the early hours of this morning. Cops rushed Stirling Street in Airdrie, Lanarkshire , after the alarm was raised around 2.45am.

But tragically he could not be saved and he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards. Officers have since arrested a 21-year-old man.

The busy street has been cordoned off and forensics officers have been scouring the scene. Police have reassured locals and patrols will be stepped up in the area.

Officers have also urged witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch. Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Campbell said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this difficult time and our officers will continue to support them as the investigation continues.
