A marina operator has reported a surge in superyachts choosing a Southampton marina as their destination. MDL Marinas said there has been a significant increase in the number of superyachts choosing Ocean Village Marina as their destination of choice. The operator said this is due in part to the VAT advantages post-Brexit as well as the marina's recent investment in improving its facilities for larger vessels.

Since the UK's departure from the European Union, non-UK flagged superyachts stopping off at British marinas have benefited from significant VAT savings, making the UK an increasingly attractive stopover destination for owners and captains. Ocean Village Marina has recently upgraded its superyacht pontoons with new decking and smart meters supplying three-phase electricity and is now able to accommodate yachts up to 80 metres in length. It offers high-end facilities, including a five-star luxury spa hotel with an award-winning restaurant and state-of-the-art gym.
