For over four decades, Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Louisiana (RMHCSLA) has been a beacon of hope for families facing medical challenges. What started in the iconic yellow house on Canal Street has blossomed into a state-of-the-art 17,500 square foot facility on the Uptown campus of Children’s Hospital and the first-ever Ronald McDonald Family Room at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s & Children’s Hospital in Lafayette.

Both locations provide care, comfort, and compassion to families through accommodations, daily hot meals, laundry facilities, transportation services, and an unparalleled support network – all free to the family. Due to an ever-increasing need, both locations operate at capacity with families often placed on waitlists. In 2023, RMHCSLA made a significant impact, supporting over 500 families and 1,300 individuals during their medical journeys, totaling 7,242 nights of stay.

The dedicated team served more than 72,000 meals to guests hailing from seven countries, 16 states, and 41 parishes across Louisiana. Thanks to the efforts of over 800 volunteers, the organization saved families over $2.7 million, and projections for 2024 indicate an even greater capacity to serve.

Families staying at the Ronald McDonald House can enjoy amenities like a spacious 64-person dining room, an outdoor barbecue area, ga.
