Photos capture a sun setting on a tiny hamlet in the far west of the county which is home to a tunnel of trees. Halnaker, near Chichester, is also home to a windmill which dates back to the 1740s. Our camera club snappers often explore the hamlet and during the autumn season when the leaves turn a rich auburn it makes for a spectacular sight.
Joanna Kaczorowska was there earlier this week to take some autumn snaps and was able to capture some beautiful moments. The sun setting on Halnaker (Image: Joanna Kaczorowska) The windmill is a Grade II listed building and has been restored with a new tile-hung façade and extensive repairs to the cap and balcony. In November 2021 the sails were removed for cyclical assessment and necessary repairs.
Halnaker has a rich history and is even mentioned in the Domesday Book. Though we are already a month into autumn, vibrant leaves are still hanging on to their green colour.
