The Côte de Lumière isn’t as well known as some of the other European coastlines but it’s high time to shed a little light on the region. It refers to the seaside resorts located along the coast of the Vendée, a region in western France . Situated between Nantes and La Rochelle, the area stands out thanks to its accessibility for travellers from Paris and international destinations, while it boasts an incredible diversity of landscapes and leisure activities.

Lumière is the French word for light and the tag for Vendée comes from the fact that the region enjoys more than 2,300 hours of sunshine a year — comparable to that of the famed southwest coast in France.
