One British tourist has shared what she calls the "Miami of Benidorm" which is hidden away from the party animals and stag parties of the main town. The Costa Blanca seaside resort is packed full of Brits at this time of year, with many drawn to the glorious weather , relaxed way of life and beers that can be bought for as little as 84p. The quieter part of the town is known as La Cala, which overlooks the sandy strip and is also home to the tallest hotel in Europe.

The 700-room, four-star Gran Hotel Bali, sits at the centre of the "quieter" part of town many swear by staying in . One person wrote online: “I previously lived and worked in Benidorm and always prefer this quieter area.” Michelle Baker, originally from Solihull, has lived in the holiday hotspot for the past 40 years.

She married a Spaniard and has raised give children there. Michelle runs the Benidormforever Facebook page , where she seeks to combat the negative rep the town has got over the years. Speaking to the Daily Star, she said that there is "something for everyone" in Benidorm.

She said that while her young daughter loves the atmosphere of the strip, there is also the "Miami of Benidorm" on the other side of the area, where there are stunning apartments that cost no less than €400,000. She added: “I urge people to discover the other side of Benidorm, metaphorically and literally. Go to Poniente Beach, go to the old town, it is absolutely beautiful and people are discovering that for themselves.
