A stunning country for travellers who want a change from Spain is always hotter than 21C. Those who are seeking a hot destination which is hot all year round could do worse than check out Cape Verde in Africa. In the UK, Spain is always the top holiday location for holiday-makers wanting to escape the less than clement British weather.

But more travellers are opting to go farther afield to Cape Verde in the sunny archipelago of West Africa. The Express reports the destination is a six-hour direct flight from the UK, which has ten islands with year-round sunshine and temperatures that rarely fall below 21C. Each of the islands in the chain, which can be found in the Atlantic, has a different and distinct feel.

A plethora of beaches, with white sands and turquoise waters, is something each of the islands has. Favourites among visitors to the area are Santa Maria Beach and Ponta Preta on Sal, Praia de Chaves on Boa Vista and Laginha Beach in Mindelo, on São Vicente. Wildlife spotting from the sands is a popular activity with whales, dolphins and turtles often appearing in the crystal waters.

Cape Verde is a year-round destination and has a rainy season between July to October. In November, the average daily maximum temperature is 29C and the average daily minimum is 23C. The islands are also full of walking trails because of the magnificent mountains and towering volcanoes which surround the more mountainous areas.

Experts say Santo Antão, São Nicolau and Fogo are the best.
