Jamshedpur: Alumni of the Alchemist Aviation Pvt . Ltd. are in shock as they pray for their instructor, Jeet Satru Anand , and trainee, Shubhodeep Dutta.

Former students, who received the news on WhatsApp and online, initially could not believe it to be true. After two days now, they said they only pray that the two pilots return home safe. “We are all connected on WhatsApp.

When a friend of mine informed me about the news, I didn't believe it. Jeet Sir was one of our instructors and he is really good. I also know Shubhodeep, a sweet boy,” said Vishvesh Vora, who acquired his commercial pilot licence in October 2023.

Walking down the memory lane, Vora said the flying school was equipped with good infrastructure and qualified trainers. The school, owned by Mahabir Prasad Rungta and Mrinal Kanti Paul, was earlier owned by former TMC Rajya Sabha member KD Singh. In 2015, the management changed and the institute rolled out courses from 2018 after the approval from the Directorate of Civil Aviation.

Officials said over 100 students have graduated and got placed in well known organisations. “Everyone is assuming what would have happened but it could be anything — weather, wind, technical issues or even a bird strike. Nothing can be said unless the aircraft is recovered,” said Vora.
