Prayagraj: In anticipation of the influx of a substantial number of international tourists coming to city to take part in Maha Kumbh, the tourism department is looking for promising school students to serve as guides to the visitors. The tourism department is gearing up to establish contact with select schools in the city to handpick these students who have successfully completed class 12th and possess proficiency in the English language. The tourism department officials will choose these students and impart training to them as guides at their own expense.
In addition to an honorarium, a guide’s licence will also be conferred upon them for their service during Maha Kumbh, enabling these students to potentially pursue a career in this domain in the future. As per the information, so far 100 students have volunteered to work as guides for Maha Kumbh. The department will summon trained guides from Delhi to train these students, who will equip them with knowledge of foreign languages such as German, French, Russian, and more.
During the previous Kumbh, 25 lakh foreign tourists graced the fair with their presence. This time, the figure is anticipated to surge. In light of this, this endeavour is being undertaken to ensure the availability of guide services, said Regional Tourism Officer, Aparajita Singh.
