Pune: Students applying for admissions under various reserved categories are anxious about the delay in getting caste, non-creamy layer, and caste validity among other certificates . The merit lists for professional courses such as law, hotel management, and engineering have been announced. Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell has announced deadlines for submission of documents based on the merit list dates.

Many students said that the non-availability of certificates may hamper their chances. Students have also written to the state CET cell to extend the deadline for the submission. Parent Arif Tamboli, who is seeking admission for his ward in a law course in a city college, said his son is on the first merit list of the centralised round.

He added, “The restriction of the date for submission of documents is hindering his chances. I have enquired with the e-seva kendra where we applied for the certificate in June. Officials said it will take time.

We cannot let go of this admission.” Sunny Sakat, a student allotted a college for an engineering degree, said the citizens’ facilitation centre where he has applied for the certificate has frequent breakdowns and work keeps piling up. He added, “We have requested the CET Cell to relax the dates for submission.

We can submit the certificate once we receive it. Admissions could be processed based on the receipt of application for the reserved category certificates.” CET cell officials said students must apply .
