There’s a new flavor in town as Local Kitchens now features the Sweet Onion Burger, having collaborated with “celebrity chef and burger expert Alvin Cailan,” according to Marggi de Lusignan, who manages community development. According to de Lusignan, Chef Cailan is “America’s top burger connoisseur,” and “after tasting his first Oklahoma Onion burger in Oklahoma City years ago, Alvin dreamed of putting his spin on it for the masses.” This became a reality when the chef partnered with Local Kitchens and thus was born the Sweet Onion Burger.

“At Local Kitchens, our vision is to break down borders by connecting communities with flavors and stories from around the world,” said Local Kitchens CEO Jon Goldsmith. And Chef Cailan’s Sweet Onion Burger, “celebrates an Oklahoma tradition..

.” According to Local Kitchens, “What makes the Oklahoma Onion Burger so flavorful is the technique behind the build ..

. Angus beef seared and pressed with thinly shaved onions and topped with a slice of classic American cheese, dill pickles, and a toasted bun.” Then there are savory sauces such as “bacon jam and the signature SOB sauce with notes of sweet onion and mustard,” while the Sweet Onion Burger menu will offer four Oklahoma Onion Burgers, grilled cheese, two kinds of fries, (regular and garlic), and a molasses chocolate chunk cookie.

Local Kitchens will be giving away 250 of the area’s best new burgers on Friday, Oct. 4, on a first-come, first-served basis.
