But the 27-year-old insists it’s full steam ahead for having a crack at a fourth Games in Los Angeles in four years time – and believes he’s swimming among the best times he ever has in his glittering career.
Scott won gold as part of Great Britain’s successful defence of the 4x200m freestyle relay title, anchoring the GB quartet under pressure from the swimming powerhouses of the United States and Australia. He added to that relay success with an excellent individual silver in the 200m individual medley event, running French superstar Leon Marchand all the way to the line as he surged to one of his four golds of the Games. With the dust settling on the 2024 Olympics, Scott has enjoyed some well-earned downtime away from the pool celebrating at a friend’s wedding, but all focus remains on trying to add to his eight Olympic medals in California in 2028.
Scott said: “I’ve been back a while, I went to a friends’ wedding so been out of the Olympic bubble for a little bit now. “All of the swimmers had to leave the village ear.
