The ‘enchanting’ journey will whisk guests away on a vintage steam train to enjoy beautiful vintage carriages, breathtaking scenery, fascinating destinations, as well as the best of food and wine and luxury hotels. Passengers will enjoy three nights and two full days in the breathtaking Lake District between Tuesday September 9 and Friday September 12, 2025. Day one will see the journey begin from London Euston station.

Setting out, the train will be hauled by a diesel or electric engine up the West Coast Mainline to Crewe, where it will be joined by a steam locomotive. The train will travel along the famous Settle and Carlisle Railway, taking a 73-mile route surrounded by ‘stunning’ scenes. The outward journey is planned to finish at Oxenholme for a 30-minute coach transfer to one of the ‘exquisite’ hotels that has been secured.

Both, the second and third days provide passengers with the opportunity to relax and explore. “From tranquil boat excursions to charming heritage railways, and venerable historic estates to lush, vibrant gardens, there’s an abundance of experiences awaiting your discovery,” Steam Dreams said. Day four will see the train’s homeward journey, which will feature some of the most captivating coastal landscapes in the UK, as it travels the Cumbrian Coast Line and Furness Line.

The train will continue to Chester, then Crewe, where the steam locomotive departs, and a vintage diesel or electric locomotive takes over to London Euston. There.
