Team India completed a 2-0 whitewash of Bangladesh in the home Test series with wins at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai and the Green Park in Kanpur. Indian skipper spearheaded the side to the decimation of the neighbours in dominant fashion as India picked up a 280-run win in the first game, before wrapping the series up with a 7-wicket victory in the second. The 37-year-old opener reflected on what it takes the triumph on home soil and in front of adoring fans as he discussed the art of judgement and decision-making.
“At the highest level, you need to have a bit of everything,” the captain began. He revealed that one needs to retain his composure while making decisions and needs the perseverance to stick by them. “You need to be calm to take decisions wisely, you need to take a lot of decisions and not every decision will go your way but you have to back it and use your experience and knowledge, that is what I do,” he continued.
“The decisions that I take on the field, I then go by it,” the 37-year-old asserted. He added that it helps that he has other seasoned campaigners by his side on the field, but he has the experience required to stick to his judgement and not waver. “Obviously there are players around me who are open to giving suggestions but, at the end of the day, I trust my mind and my judgement and that’s all that matters when you are playing,” Rohit said.
“I have been (out) there enough to trust my judgements on what I do,” the skippe.
