Romantics, budding astronomers and people just looking for a few nights of escapism have ended up being the latest victims of a growing form of fraud. Dozens of people who booked what they thought was a luxury “stargazing dome” in rural North Yorkshire have ended up in a muddy field with nowhere to stay having lost their money. Julian Potter, a local farmer, says he has seen about 30 mystified holidaymakers traipsing around his fields looking for the dome in the past six months.

“We had a couple who were coming here for their first wedding anniversary, you could see the excitement in their eyes,” he told the BBC. “Young families with kids, they have no idea until they get here that they’ve lost their money and they’re not going to go on holiday — it’s absolutely heartbreaking.”.
