Stanley J. Smith OBITUARY Stanley J. Smith, 87, of Antioch, Illinois passed away Saturday, August 3rd, 2024 surrounded by family at the Cottages of Fox Lake.
Stanley was born on November 3rd,1936 to Stanley A. and Jule (nee Orbank) Smith in Waukegan IL. Stanley spent his childhood and elementary school years in Waukegan.
He graduated high school in 1955 from Horrace Mann in Gary, Indiana. After being honorably discharged from the United States Navy, he married his sweetheart Patricia Ann (nee Hudak) who he met on a blind date. They were married in October of 1960 in Whiting Indiana in a beautiful Fall ceremony.
Later the couple would welcome three wonderful children. After moving back to Waukegan, IL, Stan began working for Illinois Bell and retired after 35 dedicated years of service. Being dedicated to the progress of Waukegan, Stan ran and won Alderman of the 4th ward.
This was one of his proudest moments in his life. Stan was a member of the St. Peter’s Parish (Antioch), St.
Anastasia Parish (Waukegan), and Immaculate Conception (Waukegan) Parish throughout the years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Waukegan Chapter) and the local IBEW Union. Stan and his wife sponsored the Waukegan Holding Room for Carmel High School Street Scenes for several years.
He was an avid bowler, Chicago Bears fan, Chicago White Sox fan (attended a 2005 World Series game), and most of all golfer. He could be found on the golf course at least once a week. Most of all, he loved to tr.
