: The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla, has ordered an inquiry to probe the allegations of misconduct by the Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Kreeri with a medical professional during the examination of a deceased man’s case on Sunday. As per an order issued by the SSP Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh, the allegation of misconduct has sparked outrage among the medical fraternity in the region. The inquiry order reads that on Sunday morning Police Station Kreeri received information that a male body was brought to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kreeri by locals and relatives of the deceased.

“Initial reports were unclear as to whether the death was due to natural causes or if there were suspicious circumstances surrounding it. The officers from PS Kreeri acted swiftly and started an investigation to gather further details,” the order reads. It reads that the preliminary inquiries revealed that the body was taken for last rites by the deceased’s relatives while the medical staff at SDH Kreeri could not conclusively determine the cause of death.

“The police party then visited the deceased’s village, where they conducted a detailed examination. After further investigation, it was concluded that the deceased had been under long-term care at the Soura Institute and the death was most probably not suspicious,” it reads. However, the order states that during the course of the investigation, it was reported that SHO Kreeri spoke in a disrespectful manner.
