As he is again today, the head coach of Tottenham Hotspur, a singular presence standing on the sidelines, letting his assistant coaches take the players through the warm-up and the drills; all the while analysing each of their moves and mistakes, dissecting them with that laser-like glare of his, which burns holes in the back of his players’ heads. Tottenham’s squad contains the greatest collection of individual footballers an Australian has ever had the opportunity to coach, including the likes of South Korean superstar Son Heung-min (captain), England international James Maddison (vice-captain) and Argentinian World Cup winner Cristian Romero (co vice-captain) – who are all under his spell.
