As an increasing percentage of our population ages and reaches the 65+ bracket, having resources to meet their unique needs becomes increasingly important as well. Here in Nevada County, we are fortunate to have an abundance of services and tools aimed at providing seniors the support they need to enjoy healthy and fulfilling lives. Next week, seniors and adults with disabilities will have the exciting opportunity to learn more about the resources and services available to them at the Elder Care Providers' Coalition Second Annual Senior Health Fair on Wednesday, Oct.

m. at Gold Miner's Inn, Grass Valley. “Our goal is to help Nevada County seniors and adults with disabilities get their annual flu shot and to provide them with over 43 resources that may help them as they age,” explains Theresa Ginotti-Haleen, Chair of the Elder Care Providers' Coalition.
Ginotti-Haleen first had the idea for the Senior Health Fair back in 2020. “That's when the gears started moving,” she says. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and shut down the idea for a few years.
But in 2023, the Elder Care Providers' Coalition and its members, including Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation, Eskaton, FREED and 211, helped to make the idea a reality. Ginotti-Haleen believes the fair fills an important need in the community. “Placer County has had a Senior Health Fair for 32 years now that is attended by more than 300 people,” she explains.
