In preparation for the annual Mandala Puja season at the Sabarimala Ayyappan Temple, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has announced the operation of 60 special buses from major cities, including Chennai, to facilitate the travel of devotees. According to TNSTC officials, the special bus services will run from November 15 to January 16. Buses will depart from key locations such as Chennai’s Koyambedu and Kilambakkam, as well as from Trichy, Madurai, Cuddalore, and Puducherry.
These buses are equipped with modern amenities, including luxury seating, air-conditioning, and sleeper facilities to ensure a comfortable journey for pilgrims heading to Pamba in Kerala. To accommodate groups of devotees, special bus charters will be available on a rental basis. This move aims to provide flexible and efficient travel solutions for larger groups making their pilgrimage to Sabarimala.
Officials have noted that, in line with the Sabarimala Devaswom Board’s schedule, the temple doors will remain closed from December 27 to 30 at 5:00 p.m. Consequently, special bus services will be suspended from December 26 to 29.
Devotees are encouraged to make advance bookings through the TNSTC website at www.tnstc.in or via the ‘TNSTC’ mobile app.
