South Korean actor Jang Keun-suk recently disclosed that he had been battling thyroid cancer and was recovering from a recent surgery. On Friday (Aug 16), the 37-year-old uploaded a minute-long video on his YouTube page, titled "Hello, This Is Jang Keun Suk. I have something to confess.
" In the video, Jang revealed that he was diagnosed with thyroid cancer a year ago and did not make the information public then as he "didn't want (his fans) to worry". Two weeks before the video was filmed, Jang had a surgery which "ended well". "For more than eight days, I was too scared to move my body and work out," he said in the video.
Despite struggling to speak, Jang described his progress as "good". He also announced that he would be going on a trip to Jeju Island – quipping that he goes to the island whenever his self-esteem drops. Jang Keun-suk has starred in numerous South Korean productions including 2009's You're Beautiful, 2012's Love Rain and 2013's Bel Ami.
He was recently a contestant on Netflix's The Influencer – a reality game show aimed at finding the top social media influencer in South Korea..
