This captivating park is redefining rural tourism by seamlessly combining exhilarating outdoor activities with a strong commitment to cultural preservation, community development, and environmental sustainability. Since its opening in 2021, Somopho Hills has emerged as a must-visit attraction, offering an array of adventures including hiking, paintball, quad biking, archery, and camping.
The park was created by Lungani Mthembu, a 35-year-old visionary who dedicated the space to his late grandfather, Inkosi Somopho Ka Sikhala, a highly respected leader of the Mthembu clan and a significant figure in Zulu history. Just 50 meters from Inkosi Somopho’s final resting place, the adventure park offers visitors more than just thrilling activities—it serves as a living tribute to the Zulu heritage, with rich narratives of history and vibrant cultural performances enriching the experience. “As part of the unique storytelling experience, we make our guests sit in our concrete Boma around the fire and educate them about the history of Kwa Zulu- Natal, leveraging on the fact that we are also named Somopho Hills.
