Reggae singer Sophia Brown remains focused on her career despite the death of her mother, Shirley Hines, who passed away at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St James, on June 11. "Although I didn't grow up with my mom, this was a huge blow for me, especially because we had got closer over the past few years. Since her death, I've been in and out of depression.

Losing someone you love dearly is not an easy thing to deal with. At times, I sit and cry when I think about all the things we didn't get to do together as mother and daughter. I will always love and cherish the precious memories of our shared moments," she said.

She continued, "Despite everything I'm going through, I have to stay on track with my career. I know it won't be easy to get over losing my mom, but the music will help me to push through. So, right now I'm working on some news songs and I am also getting ready to hit the road again.

" Brown is scheduled to tour the US in September alongside Luciano and Ginjah. "I'll be on the road until the end of October. I have several shows booked in various places, including St Louis, Indianapolis and Maine," she said.

Her recently released single, Look, has registered on several reggae charts both locally and overseas, including the T.F.R.

N. Top 30 Music Charts in New York, and the South Florida Top 25 Reggae Charts. "I'm very happy with the response that this song is receiving.

It's getting a lot of rotation in various parts of the world," she said. The vide.
