A teenager has appeared in court accused of murdering his mum and two younger siblings after they were found dead in a flat. Nicholas Prosper, 18, appeared at Luton Crown Court today facing charges of killing his mum Juliana Prosper, his 16-year-old brother Kyle Prosper and 13-year-old sister Giselle Prosper. Officers had been called at approximately 5.

30am to reports of concern for welfare at their home in Luton last Friday. Emergency services attended and found three people with injuries. All three people were pronounced dead at the scene.

The defendant was also charged with a number of other offences, including purchasing or acquiring a shotgun without a certificate, possession of a shotgun and possession of a kitchen knife in a public place. Judge Michael Simon said time is needed for an expert report on the defendant to be produced, and for pathology reports and analysis of forensics material to be completed. He remanded Prosper into custody to next appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing at the same court on December 5.

A provisional three-week trial was set for March next year. A friend of Juliana said she "lived for her children" and described her as "a positive person who will be so terribly missed". Giselle's school paid tribute to the teenager, describing her as a "model pupil" and a "beautiful soul".
