Pune: The district on Wednesday reported six new cases of Zika, taking its total count of patients so far this year to 93. Officials said two patients each were detected in PMC, PCMC and Pune rural limits on Wednesday. The two patients from PMC limits are a 22-year-old woman from Lohegaon who is 36 weeks into her pregnancy, and a 19-year-old resident of Rajmata Colony who is 24 weeks pregnant.

In Pune rural, authorities said they found one patient in Khadakwasla who is 32 years old and 22 weeks into her pregnancy. She is asymptomatic. The second is a 20-year-old woman from Maval taluka who had delivered a baby two days after onset of symptoms on August 5.

Both mother and child are stable. In PCMC limits, the two cases detected on Wednesday are also expecting mothers. One is a 20-year-old Bhosari resident who is 35 weeks pregnant, while the second is a 30-year-old from Nigdi who is 18 weeks into pregnancy.
