In an impressive display of generosity, Zimbabwean businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo has made headlines by donating vast sums of money and luxury vehicles to various individuals and groups across the nation. This year alone, it is estimated that Chivayo has splashed between US$3 and US$4 million on his philanthropic efforts, significantly impacting the lives of many Zimbabweans. One of his most recent acts of kindness involved a substantial cash donation of US$20,000 and a truck valued at US$15,000 to former ZBC presenter Simon “Pashoma” Ncube, who has been facing difficult circumstances.
Chivayo expressed his deep concern after seeing a heartfelt video of Ncube struggling on crutches. “It is devastating to witness someone who was once an icon of Zimbabwean radio now struggling in such destitute circumstances,” Chivayo said. He urged Ncube to visit his lawyer to collect the cash and choose a truck to assist him with his farming activities.
Chivayo’s generosity does not stop there. Just nine months ago, the Sunday Mail reported that he had already donated around US$5 million on cash and vehicles, including high-end gifts to local celebrities. Notably, he gifted a brand new S500 Mercedes-Benz worth US$180,000 to superstar musician Jah Prayzah, and shortly after, a 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE 300 valued at US$140,000 to Suluman Chimbetu.
Many other artists, including Alick Macheso, have also been recipients of his lavish gifts. In a bid to support local football, Chivayo has.
