Japanese singer-songwriter Sayuri has tragically passed away at the age of 28. The shocking news was shared online by her husband Amaarashi in a post via her official X handle. In the note, it was confirmed that the musician passed away on September 20.

"We would like to humbly inform everyone who has been supporting Sayuri that she passed away on September 20th. She was 28 years old," read the statement translated from Japanese. The note also went on to state that the star was laid to rest in a private funeral, in accordance with the wishes of her family.

"In accordance with the wishes of her family, the funeral was held privately with only close relatives and acquaintances present. We sincerely thank you for your kind support of Sayuri during her lifetime, and we would like to pray for her eternal peace along with you." The note went on to ask fans and the media for privacy during this trying time.

It read, "We kindly ask the members of the media to respect the family’s deep grief and to refrain from contacting them or seeking interviews with related individuals. Additionally, as Sayuri was active as a freelancer, we have been receiving fan letters and other correspondence at the live production company’s office. We kindly ask that you refrain from sending any further messages of condolence at this time.

" Her husband, fellow musician Amaarashi, whom she married on March 18 this year, shared on his X handle that Sayuri had been quietly battling a chronic illness for some.
