Pharaon L. Jackson, 21, was sentenced to three years and four months in prison as well as three years of supervised release following his jail time.
He was arrested by Louisiana State Police in Ouachita Parish in June of 2023. A passenger in a vehicle stopped for speeding, Jackson drew the attention of a trooper who said he recovered a 9 mm firearm and a bag of marijuana thrown from the window next to Jackson's seat. The weapon had been converted to automatic.
"He is dangerous, a threat to public safety and has received a just sentence," Brown said of the sentencing. "Let this be a lesson and a deterrent for others considering installing conversion devices on Glock firearms. Offenders committing such crimes will be prosecuted, and we will seek sentences of imprisonment.
" An investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives uncovered a photo posted by Jackson on social media days before the arrest that featured him holding two weapons, including one matching the one thrown from the vehicle in June. Arrests involving converted automatic weapons were announced by Shreveport police on Monday — for one individual with more than 60 weapons in his home — and Tuesday — for three .
